Is There a Different IP Protection Policy for Star Employees? – AUDIO – IPPIBlog.com

The following shared article titled, “Uber Threatens to Fire Star Engineer in Legal Battle Over Driverless Cars” posted in the NY Times on May 19, 2017, and written by Mike Issac, raises one extremely important issue for brand owners to consider, aside from the merits of the case.

It raises the particular challenges a brand can confront in trying to prevent star employees from walking out with their intellectual property.

QUESTION:

A brand is compelled to ask itself: Must a star employee adhere to the same IP management and protection policies all employees of the brand must adhere to, or does the brand look the other way?
